Tarnika Love-Anderson is a dedicated candidate running for MSCS Board District 3. With a deep-rooted commitment to public service, she aims to bring a new era of leadership to the community. Tarnika's vision includes more opportunities for our educators, staff, students, and community through empowerment and excellence within leadership.

Teachers, paraprofessionals, clerical staff, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, security personnel, and every adult who touches the life of a child are essential to the success of our schools. Tarnika Love-Anderson believes that educators and support staff must feel valued, respected, and equipped in order for students to thrive.

As a former educator, Tarnika understands the daily challenges faced by staff inside Memphis-Shelby County Schools. She has seen firsthand the dedication, sacrifice, and passion required to keep schools running. She is committed to leading with policies that uplift the entire school workforce.

As board member, I will also fight for Competitive Pay & Retention Incentives that would allow me to advocate for salary increases that reflect the true value of educators and support staff and push for retention incentives, longevity bonuses, and meaningful recognition programs.

Transparent, Student Centered Leadership

As a candidate for Memphis-Shelby County School Board, I believe leadership should always be transparent, accountable, and focused on students first.

Student-centered leadership means making decisions that prioritize academic success, student safety, and overall well-being. It means listening to parents, educators, and students, communicating openly with the community, and ensuring families understand how and why decisions are made.

Transparency means being accessible, honest, and accountable. I believe in open communication, responsible decision-making, and ensuring that families feel informed and included in the process. Every student deserves access to quality education, strong support systems, and opportunities to succeed — regardless of their zip code.

My commitment is to lead with integrity, listen with purpose, and advocate for policies that help our schools, teachers, and students thrive.

Strong Family and Community Partnership

True leadership means bringing people together for a common purpose — the success of our children.

I believe families, educators, faith leaders, and community organizations must work hand in hand to support student achievement. As a school board member, I will champion open communication, community engagement, and collaboration that leads to real solutions and measurable outcomes. Education works best when families and communities are actively involved.

As your school board representative, I will:

  • Promote open and transparent communication

  • Encourage parent and community engagement

  • Build partnerships with local organizations

  • Ensure families have a voice in decisions that impact their children

When schools, families, and communities work together, students succeed, strong partnerships are created and stronger schools build stronger communities.

Safe, Supportive, Well-Resourced Schools

Every child deserves the opportunity to learn in an environment that is safe, supportive, and fully equipped for success.

As a candidate for the Memphis-Shelby County School Board, I am committed to ensuring our schools are places where students feel protected, valued, and prepared for their future.

Strong schools are built on trust, collaboration, and intentional leadership — and that begins with putting students first.

 Safe Schools

Student safety is the foundation of learning.
I am committed to ensuring our schools are environments where students and staff feel secure and supported.

As a school board member, I will:

  • Support strong school safety policies and emergency preparedness

  • Promote clear communication and accountability

  • Work with school leaders and community partners to maintain safe campuses

  • Advocate for environments where students can focus on learning without fear

When students feel safe, they are able to thrive.

Supportive Learning Environments

Support goes beyond academics. It includes emotional well-being, encouragement, and access to the resources students need to succeed.

My focus includes:

  • Supporting mental health services and student wellness

  • Ensuring educators have the tools and support they need

  • Promoting positive school climates where students feel seen and heard

  • Encouraging strong relationships between schools and families

Students succeed when they feel supported — academically, emotionally, and socially.

 Well-Resourced Schools

Every student deserves access to quality resources, regardless of their zip code.

I will advocate for:

  • Equitable funding across all schools

  • Updated instructional materials and technology

  • Updated school buildings & beautifications of all campuses

  • Access to academic programs, enrichment, and student services

Strong schools require strong investment — and I will work to ensure resources are distributed fairly and effectively.
